The climate pattern almost all over the world has changed; Pakistan is also gravely affected by this climate change phenomenon which requires realigning the plans, policies and activities to better prepare for Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Management at the PDMA level. Earlier, in the province of Punjab, the occurrence of disasters was infrequent; however, now the disasters have become a frequent occurrence, sometimes in form of an earthquake and sometimes in the shape of annual floods, tornadoes etc. The situation requires a more dynamic PDMA with greater autonomy and enhanced facilitation for better coordination with all the stakeholders before, during and after disasters to minimize the life and livelihood losses. Most of the regions of Pakistan effect badly due to floods every year. Yearwise summary of these floods can be seen under.
